You can sign up as a Seeker (if you want to have documents proofread or translated) or as a Checker (if you want to join our translators and proofreaders).
To do so, click on the “Sign up” tab on the top right hand of the homepage screen, and then choose the category you wish to enroll in. Registration only takes one minute.
For translators and proofreaders (Checkers), registration is followed by a profile verification process to ensure the quality of the expert profiles we suggest on the platform.

In order to guarantee the quality of the proofreaders and translators’ profiles who join the seekNcheck community, we check all the information relating to the profiles of members registered as Checkers.
The invitation code is a referral tool which constitutes a first recognition of your abilities as a translator or proofreader. It speeds up the validation process of your profile, and it allows you upon registration to benefit from all the platform functions reserved for Checkers. Nevertheless, your profile will still need to be checked to be granted the status of Validated Checker.
However, if you do not have a code, you can still register. In that case, we recommend you run the validation process of your profile from your user account, soon after your registration, so as to receive the code which will allow you to validate your Checker’s status.

We rigorously check the profiles of translators and proofreaders who join the seekNcheck community. Their identity, expertise and experience are checked through a validation process.
Non-validated Checkers remain invisible to other members and to our recommendation algorithms. Indeed, our algorithms do not consider non-validated profiles, which, therefore, cannot be suggested to take charge of your documents.

We offer all our Checkers who could not justify of any proofreading nor translation experience before their registration, the possibility to build their experience on seekNcheck. Our Seekers are free to select your profile if they deem your knowledge in a field of expertise sufficient for you to take charge of their documents.

No, they are not. SeekNcheck is committed to enhancing the translators and proofreaders (Checkers)’ expertise and experience as it connects them to Seekers’ service requests when it is relevant. Checkers are members of the seekNcheck community. No employee-employer relationship binds them to the platform.

We want to be able to provide our members with the most pertinent proofreading and translation experts to take charge of their documents. Indeed, Seekers should be able to rely on us to select the most adequate Checker among the suggested profiles. We must therefore check the accuracy of the Checkers’ experience and expertise so as to guarantee the relevance and reliability of our suggestions.
We take great care to secure the confidentiality and the protection of the documents submitted by our members on the platform. Therefore, the Checkers’ validation process requires the acceptance of an agreement and an undertaking of confidentiality between the Checker and seekNcheck relating to the documents entrusted to them on the platform.
The documents to be proofread or translated are subjected to a specific contract between the Seeker and the Checker. So, we must check the identity of our members in order to ensure the validity of that contract.

A validated Checker is a translator and/or proofreader who completed our validation process, whose identity, experience and expertise can thus be guaranteed, and who accepted the agreements and undertakings of confidentiality relating to the documents entrusted to them.
The status of validated Checker is visible to the Seekers and it allows them to select the Checkers with confidence. Read more about the benefits of being a validated Checker.

Yes, they can. A minimum number of checks are necessary for your profile to become visible, or, at least, partially visible to other members and to our algorithms.

Other members can also see that your profile is completely validated. So they can select it to request your service or accept your proposals to take charge of their documents with confidence.

We are committed to supporting you personally all along the validation process if necessary. However, your profile may not be validated if the supporting documents which you provided in your validation space do not match the information you gave about your experience and expertise when you registered. Nevertheless, you can modify the provided information at any time, so that it matches the experience for which you are able to provide the adequate supporting pieces of evidence.

If the supporting documents do not allow us to validate your profile, we shall let you know as soon as possible so that you can make the necessary modifications. We will personally support you if necessary. As you will wait for your profile to be, at least, partially validated, you will not be able to offer your services as a translator or proofreader, nor will you appear alongside the profiles suggested to the Seekers. (See minimum required configuration to be visible as a Checker on the platform).

If you registered using an invitation code, your profile is considered as partially validated. In that case, you are visible to our recommendation algorithms and you can offer your services to other members. However, we advise you to complete the validation process as soon as possible so as to keep this status, or to fully validate your profile. (See the benefits of being a validated Checker).
In the meantime, you can use the platform functions which are accessible to all our members.

Upon verification, the professional experience and expertise which you gained outside the platform are taken into account by our algorithms and put forward in the suggestions of profiles presented to Seekers.

The proofreading and translation services which you carry out for seekNcheck members are automatically registered in a portfolio in your account which is visible to other members. Each successfully completed service and recommendations, or positive comments issued by satisfied Seekers strengthen your profile as it will be suggested to Seekers by our algorithms.

The validation process is the first tool which can enhance your profile since you can put forward the experience which you have gained outside the platform and be visible in the Checkers search engine. It allows the Seekers to select your profile to take charge of their documents with confidence.
We also advise you to fully complete the headings of your profile. It increases the chances for your profile to be suggested to take charge of the documents matching your skills.
Do not hesitate to offer your services directly to the Seekers who have put their documents in the “Pool”.
SeekNcheck is a digital platform but we are still human beings. We advise you to upload a profile picture which could inspire the confidence of Seekers to entrust you with their documents.

Use the Pool to offer your services to Seekers. The Pool is the area where Seekers publish their service requests to receive Checkers' proposals. The Pool relies on many filtering settings to better target the documents which you may want to take charge of.
To be able to use this function, your profile must be at least partially validated. (for more details see minimum required to be able to offer your services to the Seekers).

The Checkers’ search engine is a tool which allows the translators and proofreaders’ profiles to be put forward on the platform. The Seekers use its filtering settings to target the best Checker’s profile to take charge of their documents. They can submit their service requests directly to the Checkers of their choice without going through the automatic recommendations of our algorithms.

Once you have obtained the status of Validated Checker, you can use our invitation code generator. You may, if you wish, use this tool to refer new members whose skills you reckon as being sufficient to become potential Checkers. The codes which you generate will allow them upon registration to benefit from all the platform functions reserved for partially validated Checkers.

The automatic suggestion of translators and proofreaders (Checkers) relies on a set of parameters which calculate the relevance score of the Checkers’ profiles that could best match the required service for the submitted document. This method of calculation relies on two main criteria: The Checkers’ level of expertise in the field of the document, and their level of experience in proofreading or translation for the type of the document (e.g.: scientific paper, literary manuscript, etc.).
Beyond this matching process between the Checkers’ profiles and the documents, the algorithms which carry out these calculations continuously learn more from the Seekers’ choices so as to refine their suggestions.

The details provided in the service request publication form greatly impact the results of the suggestions made by the platform. Sometimes these suggestions may not seem relevant enough for your document.
When this happens, you can manually search for the profile that might suit you by clicking “View more Checkers” or using the Checkers search engine.

Non-validated Checkers remain invisible and cannot be suggested by our algorithms. However, partially validated Checkers may be suggested to you. Partially validated Checkers have accepted at least our agreements and undertakings of confidentiality relating to the documents which will be entrusted to them on the platform. They also have provided us with the pieces of evidence necessary to the verification of the information relating to their experience and expertise. You can also check their validation level in their profiles setup “Verifications”.
Checkers whose profile validation is complete can easily be identified thanks to the visible badge under their profile picture (Learn more about the Checkers validation process).

We pay very much attention to the quality and relevance of the profiles that we suggest you. We check the Checkers’ profiles before they become visible to our algorithms and appear in the suggestions and in the Checkers’ search engine. We thus guarantee you the possibility to choose a Checker in all confidence relying on their experience and expertise.

Of course, you can. To do this, you can go directly to the Checkers search engine and select the translator or proofreader profile that suits you. You can also, when publishing a service request, click on “Publish in the Pool” to display it in the space of the platform where all Checkers can consult it and offer you their services.

We are very concerned about respecting the intellectual property of the authors of documents submitted on seekNcheck. In that sense, we must be able to authenticate the users who submit them and therefore reserve this possibility to registered users only.

The use of the platform's features binds you to our Terms of service. By submitting a document to the platform, you confirm that you have sufficient rights to do so and that the content of the document complies with our Terms of Service.

To submit a request service, click on the button “Have a document translated or proofread” in the main menu bar of your account or from the home page of the platform. Fill in the form which appears, it allows you to upload your document and provide information about the service you are looking for.
Once the form completed, you can choose to submit your service request directly to a translator or proofreader (Checker), or publish in the Pool, or keep it in your account if you wish to publish it later.

The Pool is the space on the seekNcheck platform where all members can post service requests visible to all translators and proofreaders (Checkers). This space is used when someone does not wish to entrust them to any particular Checker but would rather wait to receive service proposals from interested Checkers.

You can manage all your documents from the “Documents Room” of your account. You can follow ongoing services for your documents entrusted to a Checker, your service requests published in the Pool, and service requests you chose not to publish yet.
This space also allows you to manage the Checkers’ service proposals for your service requests published in the Pool, and the services requests which you directly sent to Checkers.
If you are a Checker, this space also allows you to manage and monitor the documents you accepted to take charge of.

If you want to select a translator or proofreader (Checker) to take charge of your document, the “Submit to a Checker” button triggers suggestions of relevant Checkers’ profiles matching your document and the service you request.
You can select one of the suggested profiles or you can choose another profile manually from the Checkers’ search engine by clicking on the link “See more Checkers”.
The solicited Checker must give you an answer within the next 24 hours. When this period is over, or if the Checker has declined the offer, your document comes back to your private documents’ space, or in the Pool if you have ticked the box “Possible return to the Pool”.

Yes, you can. However, for the moment, the document submission function supports PDF, DOC, DOCX and ODT files formats. The types of documents that you can submit are not limited. A list of types of documents can be selected when you submit a service request. But if the type of your document is not listed, you can choose to put it in “Others”.
